What is it about?
Molten micro-droplet printing technology takes the uniform metal droplet as the basic forming unit, and it is a kind of rapid printing technology based on the shape characteristics of the parts to realize the manufacturing parts. It has a wide range of applications in the fields of micro-scale complex fabricated parts manufacturing, electronic packaging, and structure-function integrated manufacturing. In this paper, the interaction between multiple molten droplets and heterogeneous wettability surfaces during the preparation of flexible electronic devices is investigated during the microdroplet 3D printing (Three Dimensional Printing, 3DP) electronics is studied based on the coupled level collective integral number method (CLSVOF) and equivalent heat capacity method. The influence of the regional wettability characteristics of the heterogeneous functional wettability surface and its matching mode on the droplet spreading and coalescence behavior and the phase transition thermal process is explored. The evolution of the gas-liquid interface morphology of double and multiple molten droplets during simultaneous impingement and coalescence is discussed. The average temperature and heat flow density distribution characteristics inside the molten fluid is analyzed. The precise regulation mechanism of heterogeneous functional wettability surfaces on the coalescence and forming of molten droplets is revealed.

Why is it important?
In this paper, by designing the pattern distribution form of heterogeneous functionally wetted surfaces and fit of different regions wettability discrepancy, the droplet spreading and coalescence process is regulated accordingly, which brings a new and effective strategy for precise droplet positioning and morphology manipulation. the impact dynamics of molten droplets and their phase transition heat transfer behavior in the printing and fabrication of electronic devices are highly stochastic and complex. Existing research results have not yet found a dedicated and in-depth investigation and analysis of this behavior. In addition, it is difficult to obtain the details of the relevant flow field and its phase change heat transfer process inside the molten fluid by common experimental methods. Numerical simulation can reproduce the spreading and aggregation behavior of the melt droplets and the phase transition heat process under the actual working conditions under the premise of guaranteeing the physical accuracy and computational precision, so that obtain the rich information of the relevant physical fields effectively.
Perspectives
In this paper, based on the flow and heat transfer problems during the simultaneous coalescence and forming of double/multiple molten droplets on heterogeneously wetted functional surfaces, we carry out a systematic analysis of the droplet morphology evolution and the heat transfer and cooling characteristics in the domains during the evolution process. The influence of the wettability characteristics of the heterogeneous functional wettability surface and the regional wettability matching scheme on the spreading flow characteristics and phase transition heat transfer behavior of the droplets during the simultaneous coalescence process is discussed. This study provides new reference ideas for the preparation and manufacture of flexible electronic devices and the regulation of droplet surface behavior, and further enrich the droplet forming law and its phase transition heat transfer mechanism.
