What is it about?

Electric vehicles are attractive due to their minimal to zero harmful emission characteristics. The adoption of Electric Vehicles will present a formidable obstacle for a nation such as Brunei, which heavily depends on subsidized fuel for its population. Furthermore, the Public Transportation is not the predominant mode of commute in Brunei Darussalam. The purpose of this research paper is to collect data on the public's opinion and perception of Electric Vehicles and Public Transport in Brunei at the present time. The data collected may subsequently be utilised by researchers or authorities to enhance the environmental impact of transport in Brunei and its region.

Why is it important?

The transportation sector significantly impacts environmental issues as a result of the detrimental emissions emitted by Internal Combustion Engine vehicles. By implementing mass public transport, these environmental impacts can be mitigated. However, for a country like Brunei, where fuel is subsidized due to high car ownership, this poses a threat, and a transition to a cleaner mode of transportation must be implemented. In this paper, the public's perception of electric vehicles and public transport was collected and assessed for their feasibility.
