What is it about?

Blasting for mining and other activities generates blast-induced ground vibrations, no matter how much we try to control it. The induced vibration depends on a few independent parameters which govern the blasting process. Here a trial has been made to predict the induced vibration using ANN using the independent parameters.

Why is it important?

The induced ground vibration (BIGV) is a major problem in the process of, fragmentation caused by means of blasting, and causes severe damage to any nearby installed structures. BIGV creates environmental difficulties such as overpressure, ground vibration, fly rock, dust generation, fumes, and back breaks around the blasting zone. Thus, in order to avoid such undesirable effects, accurate knowledge by predicting BIGV and thus taking control measures is becoming very popular among scientists and researchers.
