What is it about?

The computational fluid analysis demonstrated: The presence of a winglet on an aircraft wing reduces the induced drag that opposes the forward motion of the aircraft. The amount of reduction varies with the winglet shape. Other factors such as vortices also get affected by the change in winglet shape.

Why is it important?

Help reduce the power needed to propel the aircraft, thus reducing fuel consumption and the emission of greenhouse gas that pollute the environment.
