What is it about?

With the increasing growth of wireless communication technologies, high data rates and intelligent services are very demanding. So the 5G wireless communication systems have attracted increasing attention in both academic and industrial fields. To improve the channel capacity and spectrum efficiency without needing more bandwidth and/or transmitting power, The MIMO antenna system should be employed for the 5G mobile handsets. This paper presents a compact low-profile self-isolated eight-element antenna array operating on triple-bands for future 5G MIMO mobile terminals.

Why is it important?

The suggested MIMO antenna system can well resolve the isolation issue based on the current self-isolated manner. The proposed system do not incur additional losses of decoupling elements or/and isolation techniques, affecting the antenna efficiency performance and increasing the system complexity. In addition, desirable antenna miniaturization and simple structure have been achieved.
