What is it about?
Polymeric nano-composites are materials that are composed of a polymer matrix and nano-sized filler particles that are uniformly dispersed throughout the matrix. The fillers can be inorganic or organic and can vary in size, shape, and composition. The content of the fillers in the polymer matrix can also vary, ranging from a few percent to as high as 50% or more. The addition of nano-sized fillers to the polymer matrix can lead to significant improvements in the mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties of the resulting nano-composite material. The high surface area-to-volume ratio of the nano-fillers allows for a stronger interfacial interaction between the filler and the polymer matrix, leading to improved properties such as increased stiffness, strength, and toughness.

Why is it important?
