What is it about?

In porous media, interface stability in displacement between two fluids is essential for applications such as oil recovery, carbon storage, chromatography, etc. This paper shows the 3D experiment using x-ray micro-CT in vertical miscible displacement in porous media. The effect of viscosity and density are discussed according to the interface stability.

Why is it important?

Porous media have opaque properties that are hard to visualize. Several experiments do the 2D experiment by using micromodel or hele-shaw cells. However, 3D is more represented in real applications therefore, it is important to analyze and visualize in the 3D system using x-ray micro-CT

Perspectives

This article extends the 2D case into the 3D case, which I found interesting. A numerical simulation that is hard to verify can use this article as a reference. I hope it can be useful for others
