Complexification of periodic orbits by nonlinear oscillatory mixing in autonomous dynamical systems

What is it about?

Process through which the harmonic oscillation of the periodic orbit born in a Hopf bifurcation becomes enriched with the succesive incorporation of oscillatory bursts of higher frequencies, while the orbit remains periodic and without the necessity of bifurcating instabilities. In this way, extremely complex oscillations with a disparate range of time scales can be sustained by the dynamical system.
