What is it about?
RF coils are essential for registering the magnetization that generates the nuclear magnetization in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). The proposed coil is based on the Petal Surface Coil and Petal Resonator Surface Coil, whose resonant frequencies were 22 MHz and 64 MHz, respectively. These encouraging results at low field motivated the development of a modified petal resonator surface coil for ultra-high field magnetic resonance imaging applications.

Why is it important?
MRI coil's are used to generate RF power to exited the spin system in a sample. It is important to have a good coil design to improve the signal to noise ratio (SNR), the B1 field homogeneity and the specific absorption ratio (SAR)
