Why is it important?

Applied mathematicians and scientists are trying to find ways to represent water waves' violent (non-linear) behaviors seen in reality like rogue waves. Usually supercomputing is used to derive the nonlinear behaviors seen in nature. The present method leads to a cheaper way of doing that - without supercomputing. I performed all the computations described in the present work on a regular desktop PC.


This is the only published method which uses the direct water wave equations to understand the behavior of their statistics. Most other methods either simply simulate the wave envelope, or employ the use of expensive supercomputing.
