What is it about?

The experimentations were carried out on a jet impingement facility using the smoke visualization method. The results showed a significant effect of the ion wind on the downstream free jet.

Why is it important?

The significant outcomes of the work were the change in the length of the potential core along with the entrainment width and subsequent flow characteristics analyzed at different Reynolds numbers. The commercially available ion generator can be used to analyse one of the active flow control mechanism using ion wind with low cost and limited resources expenditure.

Perspectives

This work represents the potential to analyse EHD flow physics with low cost and unsophisticated testing facility.
