What is it about?

Hematology is a series of blood tests carried out to identify any problems or blood disorders based on the number of cells. There is a tendency to postpone hematological examinations because of the high demand for samples to be tested. Delayed analysis of blood samples can affect the reliability and validity of hematological testing results.

Why is it important?

This research aims to determine the characteristics of the blood impedance value stored in an EDTA tube for 6 hours based on the electrical impedance spectroscopy method. The number of blood cells factor influences the characteristic of blood impedance. Measurement of whole blood cell impedance was injecting 100 µA currents into the sample at the frequency range of 1 Hz to 1 MHz. The longer the blood is stored, the higher the blood impedance value. The condition happens because of changes in blood morphology during storage.

Perspectives

Writing this article was a great pleasure as it has co-authors with whom I have had long-standing collaborations. This article also leads to rare disease groups contacting me and ultimately to greater involvement in rare disease research.
