What is it about?

I have postulated an equation for the nonequilibrium temperature to resolve the anomaly of negative thermal conductivity occurting in the normal shock waves when the Mach number is larger than a certain value. The new temperature equation makes the Navier-Stokes equation for shock waves be a single equation (in conventional theory, it constitutes two equations).

Why is it important?

The bulk viscosity of dilute monatomic gases has been known to be zero upto now, however, the present theory suggests that it is not zero but 1/15 times the shear viscosity.

Perspectives

The temperature equation makes the set of hydrodynamic equations be very simple form.
