What is it about?

Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) is one of the most high-performance thermoplastic materials, which is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic polymer with an approximate crystalline of 30%–35% . Especially, PEEK and PEEK composites used as implant materials for replacing and repairing hard tissues of human body have attracted increasing attention because of their excellent mechanical and bio compatibility properties

Why is it important?

the elastic modulus determined by the nano indentation technique differs from the results obtained from tensile test

Perspectives

this work aims ti improve the properties of the composites used as implants inside human body and reach the modulus of elasticity within the range of the cortical bone to avoid stress shielding results from difference between implants and human bone
