What is it about?
Indonesia is a centre of Coral Triangle (CT) of the world, but there are many others Indonesian reefs out of CT, inculude Batam Island, Kepulauan reefs. We have already finished long term reef monitoring for over ten years (2004 to 2013), included monitoring on global coral bleaching impact in 2007 and 2010.

Why is it important?
Our long term monitoring of the coral reef shown that significant decrease of coral cover was impacted by global coral bleaching event and sediment load by land use development in Batam coastal and small island. Changing and trend of the reefs in space and time is very important for marine protected area creation and action, particularly to coral reef conservation.
Perspectives
I hope this article provide the coral reef data series which they used for coral reef rehabilitation and management in Indonesia and will be completed reef database of the world, especially in Coral Triangle area
