What is it about?

Cell's mechanical property or stiffness has been shown to relate to its biological activities. In this study, we developed a fast, low-cost method that utilises acoustic waves in a micro-scale fluidic channel, in order to examine cell's mechanical property on this micro-platform.

Why is it important?

This study proposes a new method to combine surface acoustic wave to microfluidic device for the purpose of cell mechanical characterisation. It contributes to the possibility of using acoustic-based microfluidic technique in a higher-throughput, lower-cost application.
