What is it about?

The article combines a canonical transformation and variational method to split nuclear Schrodinger equation into rotation, vibration, and intrinsic parts using constraints on the wavefunction rather than on the particle coordinates. The collective part of the equation generalizes the Faessler Greiner phenomenological collective Hamiltonian. The equation solved for the excitation energy and quadrupole moment in light and heavy nuclei.
