What is it about?

The paper presents an experimental research carried out in two different locations. Based on temperature measurements at different depths it was calculated the soil thermal diffusivity. It was also presented a mathematical model capable to calculate the natural ground temperature variation at any depth up to 10 meters. Experimental natural ground temperature variation is presented for different depths up to 2 meters. Results can be applied in geothermal energy.

Why is it important?

The particularity of the paper is that the mathematical model include for each parameter specific ranges of variation and confidence intervals. In one location the experiment was carried out for more than 530 days and in the second location the experiment was carried out for more than 250 days.
