What is it about?

Time resolved images of helium plasma jet at atmospheric pressure. Plasma jet is very simple, made of glass tube with transparent electrodes. Images show that plasma is not continuous, but moving at high speeds inside the tube and to the surrounding space. Temperature of the plasma effluent is near room temperature and can be applied on biological samples, nano material production, deposition of thin coatings, water treatment, as a ionization source in mass spectrometry.

Why is it important?

Transparent electrodes are the most important detail in this work, because they reveal the plasma motion in them. Also in this paper can be seen that plasma in electrode area is "hanging" on the wall of the tube.
