What is it about?
In this paper we investigate the influence of the substrate type on chemical order and crystallographic texture of the Cu-doped L10-ordered FePd thin alloy films. Both of these quantities were determined by X-ray Diffraction measurements using synchrotron radiation.

Why is it important?
Our findings show that chemical order and crystallographic texture of the FePd:Cu thin alloy films is dependent on used substrate. Since the L10-ordered FePd alloy is being consider a promising material for applications in hard disks with perpendicular magnetic recording it is essential to determine the best and cheapest way to produce well-ordered and textured material.
