What is it about?

For nanotechnology applications, Bowtie-shape aperture design can be optimized to focus light to achieve smaller spot and higher transmission. This new type of lens can be used in laser fabrication process (lithography) for creating smaller nano scale objects.

Why is it important?

Our simulation result shows that the focus spot size can be 40% smaller by adding rings around the bowtie aperture , and the focus spot is more symmetrical. This design can solve the problem of non-symmetrical focus spot for this type of focusing lens.
