What is it about?
This paper describes a method for stabilizing synchrotron radiation X-ray beams using feedback control to the crystal monochromator. It specifically discusses the device configuration for maximizing beam intensity. The beam intensity obtained from the crystal monochromator, which was minutely vibrated using a piezoelectric actuator, was measured using an ionization chamber. Phase-sensitive detection was employed to achieve peak hold control. With this method, successful stabilization of beam intensity was achieved even during energy scans of the monochromator.
