What is it about?

In this work we explore the use of glass-coated magnetic microwires as a sensor alternative for the monitorization of the concrete sleepers in the railway. We find a relation between the applied stress on the microwire and the evolution of the coercitive field (Hc) that can be interpolated by an exponential function. This interpolation function can be used for the fabrication of a remote sensor for its use in 4.0 industry.

Why is it important?

We present a cheaper alternative to current optical fiber based smart-sleepers in the railway industry while also being more resistant to failure and external changres. changes

Perspectives

The perspective of this article is to start doing this kind of experiments in bigger systems in order to look for a proper industrial application of the method proposed in the article.
