What is it about?

This article presents an analysis of the stress-strain state of the cross beam of the main frame of the electric locomotive of the PE2M and PE2U industrial traction units used in the Republic of Uzbekistan. The analysis of the stress-strain state of the cross beam was carried out using the Solidworks Simulation software using the Finite Element Method (FEM). The finite element model of the cross beam was created in Solidworks software based on factory drawings and dimensions taken from a real example of the main frame of the electric locomotive. PE2M and PE2U traction units have been used for 30-40 years. This requires an assessment of the strength of load-bearing structures to justify their reliable use in the future. Modern software tools for strength calculation ensure the accuracy of the results. According to the results of the analysis of the stress-strain state, the maximum stress concentration in the cross beam was 115 MPa, and the factor of safety was 2.7.
