What is it about?

Graphene oxide (GO) is studied as a potential corrosion-resistant coating for steel. GO was synthesized using the modified Hummer method at pH levels 4, 5, and 6. Coated steel plates were analyzed using techniques like EIS, OCP, FTIR, SEM, and others. pH 6 GO coating showed the best corrosion resistance and lowest corrosion rate (40.12 mpy). Higher acidity (lower pH) increases corrosion rates GO at optimal pH acts as an effective corrosion barrier for steel.
