What is it about?
This work investigates the nature of argentophilicity in 2,2’-bipydine coordinated silver complex.

Why is it important?
The quantitative GKS-EDA approach and various qualitative analyses demonstrate that argentophilic interaction is appealing, with long-range dispersion, short-range correlation, and desolvation interactions from ligands being the key contributors. Overall, this study emphasizes the importance of ligands in argentophilicity, with d10-d10 attraction of metal centers making little contribution.
Perspectives
Our findings will provide fundamental insights for the self-assembly of supramolecular structures or aggregations of transition-metal complexes.
