What is it about?
Ultra-thin plies imply a change of damage mechanisms under fatigue. Different damage scenarios are experimentally obtained at different number of cycles. After this, their flexural stiffness losses are obtained under a 3-point bending test. Different losses are achieved when ultra-thin plies are used in carbon/epoxy cross-ply laminates.

Why is it important?
The different fatigue damage mechanisms need to be analysed under different load cases to know their benefitial or detrimental influence.
Perspectives
It seems that an improvement of the flexural performance exists when ultra-thin plies are used. So, a wider study is also being performing to understand better what it's happening.
