What is it about?

Entropy is a quantity that controls the efficiencies of all energy transfer systems. Understanding and more accurately computing this quantity is therefore critical. Here we show the importance of fine details in accurately computing this quantity.

Why is it important?

Today, more than ever, energy efficiencies are critical to maintaining a healthy and prosperous society. Global warming, energy resource depletion, environmental harm can all be addressed through energy efficiency improvements and energy conservation.

Perspectives

Entropy is perhaps the least understood of all physical quantities, yet it plays such a critical role in everything around us!
