What is it about?
The thick (112) oriented Cd3As2 film is a semi-Dirac material whose dispersion is linear (massless) in one direction and is quadratic (massive) in the orthogonal direction. An appropriate electric field can induce a Dirac-nodal-arc state in the semi-Dirac-point system.

Why is it important?
Our results show that (112) oriented Cd3As2 films are a candidate of a semi-Dirac material, a Dirac-nodal-arc state can be induced in the thick Cd3As2 film. This will explain the highly anisotropic properties of these films from a new perspective, such as anisotropic transmission, magneto-optical absorption and optical conduction.
