What is it about?

This paper presents the comparison between microstrip series feed patch antenna and out of line series feed antenna. Both structures designed to resonate at 26GHz. Roger 5880 with 2.2 dielectric constant and 0.0009 tangent loss is the used substrate for this work. Parameter such as gain, directivity, bandwidth and Return loss are discussed for both structure with cleas comparison.

Why is it important?

This work shows the other researchers in millimeter wave 5G application to develop the array antennas. By considering the cost of ports of array antenna and complexity of array antennas, series feed study could be the best choice for 5G Application and specifically the Massive MIMO application. With both structures 1*8 elements achieving the 8*8 array antennas will be easier based on the required application.

Perspectives

This work could be connected with beamforming circuit or electronic programmable chip to achieve the beamforming with low cost high efficiency with ease in beam controlling.
