Why is it important?

This research was conducted by combining Gedi leaves extract into coffee because the use of coffee as a health product is still very rare. The advantage of this product is that it can enhance the functional properties of coffee as a herbal drink, which has anti-diabetic properties. Increasingly congested activities and changes in people's consumption which not only needs but also take into prestige are other reasons for choosing coffee products. It is hoped that this innovation will be accepted in the market because coffee is very synonymous with society in the era of globalization.

Perspectives

The number of people with diabetes mellitus from year to year continues to increase and is mostly dominated by productive age. Usually, to overcome this, patients are given medicines with the aim of controlling blood glucose levels. Even so, the medicines used are generally derived from chemicals (synthetic drug). In addition, the current trend is that people prefer to use natural ingredients over chemicals. The use of Gedi leaves as an ingredient in making medicine will certainly be a promising innovation. It is hoped that in the future, the use of synthetic drugs can be suppressed and replaced with natural ingredients.
