What is it about?
Microwave hybrid heating combines two types of energy transfer modes, microwave and conventional heating, with the aid of a microwave susceptor. This paper examine the effect of graphite susceptor mass on metallurgical and shear strength of Cu/Cu-7.0Ni-9.3Sn-6.3P/Cu joints.

Why is it important?
Our findings show that graphite susceptor could absorb electromagnetic energy, convert it into heat, and a uniform brazed joint is formed upon solidification. This proved that microwave energy can be used to braze bulk metallic materials.
Perspectives
I hope this article will give a new perspective on using microwave energy as an alternative method to braze / join metallic materials with the aid of susceptor materials. Microwave heating has emerged as a potential economical processing technique that provides better processing characteristics such as reducing manufacturing processing time, low energy consumption, finer microstructure, and enhanced physical and mechanical properties
