What is it about?
All thermodynamic systems tend to minimise their free energies. When a mesoporous solid is subject to a vapor phase, at already relatively low vapor pressures capillary-condensed liquid may form in small pores. We find the free energy spectrum associated with different distributions of the condensed phase in the material and identify the lowest energy state.

Why is it important?
The spectrum of the free energies determines many thermodynamic properties of the system. With quantifying thermodynamic states accessible in the experiment and their free energies, we provide a route for understanding of many features in fluid behaviour in the pore systems.
Perspectives
It was indeed a great pleasure to work on this publication in a group of inspiring colleagues and friends. I hope this work will contribute to a better understanding of confined matter.
