What is it about?
Field distribution of BCSRR metamaterial structure is studied and taking the fringing fields of BCSRR also into consideration, an equation is formed to find the complex permittivity of dielectric samples. for this, the existing equations for effective capacitances of BCSRR structure has been modified. Experimental and simulation studies are given.

Why is it important?
The field distribution studies are seldom found in literature in the case of BCSRR metamaterial structures and the fringing fields of BCSRR rings were not taken into consideration so far even though it has a crucial effect in the resonant nature of BCSRR. since the proposed method is easy and consists of a simple experimental setup anyone can make use of it to find the dielectric permittivity and loss tangent of dielectric samples.
Perspectives
This is an easy non-destructive complex permittivity measurement technique in which fringing field effects of BCSRR are also taken into account for the expression of effective capacitance and hence in modifying the expression for the complex permittivity of the dielectric samples. A very simple and easy method with simple experimental setup.
