What is it about?

This work explores the evolution of gravity currents in a stratified medium. Specifically, we investigated how the internal wave characteristics changed when we go from subcritical to the supercritical regime.

Why is it important?

Gravity currents in the form of river plumes have been known to excite large-scale internal waves in the coastal ocean region. This study helps in predicting the characteristics of those internal waves given the background conditions.

Perspectives

This work will definitely help the reader get a better grasp of the evolution of gravity currents in a stratified medium which is very relevant to coastal ocean dynamics.
