What is it about?

The aim of this study was to use the Atriplex nummularia for hyperaccumulators of silver after extraction from the soil by the plant. The concentration of silver Ag in different organs of plants and in two soils was examined in Najaf, Iraq, in 2017. Desert soils had the highest mineral concentration. The bioaccumulation of the metal was in the order of leaf> soil> root. Average (soil to root transport factor) TF (Rt / SE) in desert soil and average (above ground to underground transport factor) TF (AG / BG) for more than one silver.

Why is it important?

The transition factor and the positive linear relationship between the concentrations of silver in the soil and the leaves indicate that the Atriplex nummularia plant is able to collect silver in their leaves and this indicates the viability of the plant to extract silver because it is hyperaccumulators of silver.

Perspectives

The aim of this study was to use the Atriplex nummularia for hyperaccumulators of silver after extraction from the soil by the plant. The concentration of silver Ag in different organs of plants and in two soils was examined in Najaf, Iraq, in 2017. Desert soils had the highest mineral concentration. The bioaccumulation of the metal was in the order of leaf> soil> root. Average (soil to root transport factor) TF (Rt / SE) in desert soil and average (above ground to underground transport factor) TF (AG / BG) for more than one silver. In the present study, the concentration of silver in desert soils is about 23 times higher than the global concentration. While the concentration of silver in the plant leaves about 46.69 ppm higher than the concentration in the desert soil, an increase of about 93.38% over the global concentration. The concentration of silver in plant growing in agricultural soil was 9.83 ppm. This means an increase of about 20% from the global concentration. The transition factor and the positive linear relationship between the concentrations of silver in the soil and the leaves indicate that the Atriplex nummularia plant is able to collect silver in their leaves and this indicates the viability of the plant to extract silver because it is hyperaccumulators of silver.
