What is it about?
A fluid flows around a four circular cylinders in an in-line square configuration near a plane wall would induce a hydrodynamic forces to the cylinders arrangement. This forces were depend on a distance between spacing-diameter ratios of the cylinders and a plane wall. In this paper, its were examined at a small gap.

Why is it important?
Our results show that at a small-gap, the spacing-diameter ratios (L/D) give the important influence on the drag and lift coefficients of the cylinders. Increasing of L/D's make the coefficients of drag decrease, especially on the upstream cylinders. While, the coefficients of lift have a significant decreasing when the L/D's increase, especially on the upper-downstream cylinder.
Perspectives
I hope this article give an important information about an arrangement of the cylinders to the plane wall. This application could benefit to development of the pipe system of undersea pipes and offshore structures.
