What is it about?
Development of an ultracompact neutron source based on the inertial electrostatic confinement fusion device. The effect of the electrodes on the neutron production rate is highlighted. A high neutron production rate from inertial electrostatic confinement fusion device will change the equation for blanket materials for ITER and Tokamak devices.

Why is it important?
The future of Nuclear power plants may be changed if fusion technology became more powerful. The effect of the fusion reaction on the electrode surfaces on the neutron production rate. The smart feedthrough system that is enabling apply a higher voltage and stabilized the plasma heating and operation.
Perspectives
More research on the fusion system is still needed to adopt the technology in real use. A more compact neutron source with a higher neutron yield from DD fusion up to 1E10 n/s is expected from the novel developed system.
