Dynamics of irradiated plasma edge

What is it about?

When a relativistically intense linearly polarized laser pulse is incident on an overdense plasma, a dense electron layer is formed on the plasma edge. A self-consistent analytical model that describes the edge motion is presented and applied to the problem of incoherent synchrotron emission by ultrarelativistic plasma electrons.

Why is it important?

The presented model describes electron layer trajectory and radiation pattern of incoherent synchrotron emission (X and gamma-rays) in the relativistic electronic spring interaction regime. The model can be also for in high harmonic generation and ion acceleration study.
