Shape memory alloys for high temperature applications

What is it about?

The presented results on Ru-Nb shape memory alloys, show a good reversibility of the martensitic transformation, offering a challenge for the development of sensors and actuators at very high temperature, where no other materials are able to work.

Why is it important?

The studied shape memory alloys of Ru-Nb, open a new way for developing sensors and actuators at very high temperature, as for instance in the hot areas of the engines used in aeronautic and aerospace industries.
