What is it about?

The design of urban arterial roads has been dominated by 'traffic function' sometimes at the expense of 'place function' to the detriment of pedestrians, cyclists and other travellers wishing to access land uses along the road. Urban arterial roads can serve both functions. This paper proposes an innovative framework which shows how this can be managed.
