Welfare and cohesion contested: A critical discourse analysis of New Labour's reform programme

What is it about?

This article critically analyses the language and imagery found in policy documents, written whilst New Labour was in government, on welfare reform and community cohesion. It finds that the policy promises one thing whilst the language and presentation of the policy encourages almost the opposite outcome.
