What is it about?

Focusing upon two case studies from the Oil industry, we investigate a conceptual framework which indicates connections between perceptions of ethical climate in the work place and levels of ethical empowerment on employee commitment, and its effects, in turn, on CSR beliefs and intentions.

Why is it important?

Our findings offer important implications relating to the management of CSR internally within an organisation - especially in Industries that may potentially be challenged by various social and/or environmental impact issues and include: a) need for a balance between different types of internal ethical environments to best support socially responsible intentions; b) requirement for an effective monitoring program to understand employee ethical and moral values aiding potential alignment between employee and organisation.
