An analysis of the Granada TV series of Sherock Holmes adaptations featuring Jeremy Brett as Holmes, in light of Thatcherite politics of the 1980s.

Why is it important?

It is the first contextual-critical study of this particular suite of adaptations to read across the ideologies of the later C20th and back to the C19th.

Perspectives

Writing this gave me a new perspective on a series I loved as a viewer.
