Why is it important?

The paper demonstrates that mindfulness in itself is not enought for business if we want to achieve genuine ethics, because mindfulness without a strong ethical commitment towards other spiritual values (e.g. towards non-violence) could be socially and environmentally destructive or detrimental. The paper illustrates that non-violence is a indespensable value behind mindfulness, that could contribute to establishing genuine ethics in business.

Perspectives

The paper demonstrates that the instrumental and rational application of mindfulness does not ensure social and environmental prosperity. In many cases it simply contibutes to business effectivity. The paper contribute to the mindfulness debate and draws the attention to non-violence that could be applied in business as a fundamental spiritual value that ensure the genuineness behind mindfulness.
