What is it about?
This chapter examines the way in which Kenya has been subjected to several terrorist attacks promoting the country to prioritize the development and implementation of several counter terrorism (CT ) efforts. These efforts have, however, been adversely affected by two distinct yet related issues: corruption and human rights violation. Kenya’s CT policies are proactive, and the engagement of corruption and human rights violation particularly religious discrimination, in the implementation of these efforts, by CT agencies has adversely affected human security and led to an increase in religious radicalization, exacerbating rather than mitigating terrorism in the country.

Why is it important?
The article demonstrates that the implementation of CT policies, under conditions of weak governance, intensifies rather than reducing and preventing terrorism.
