Emergency physicians have a vital interest in the efficiency of information transfer via the ED's interfaces. Firstly, they want to assure the continuation of patient care, which is started in the ED but seldom completed there. But there is another perspective, too: What doctors do in an ED is judged by professionals on the other side of the interfaces. Their apprehension of patient care in the ED is largely affected by their perception, and this again depends on the efficiency of the interfaces of an ED.
