What is it about?

Postoperative pulmonary function can be impaired after Mini AVR through the right anterior minithoracotomy, which was expressed by reduced spirometry parameters. Postoperative pulmonary function was also influenced by the presence of COPD and pulmonary complications.

Why is it important?

The single lung ventilation technique has not resulted in impaired postoperative pulmonary function or a higher incidence of pulmonary complications when compared with the double lung ventilation technique during Mini AVR surgery.

Perspectives

Mini AVR should be performed when patients with impaired lung function are scheduled for AVR surgery.
