Why is it important?
Understanding outcomes of extremely preterm infants can help better counsel families regarding antenatal and postnatal care and guide strategies to improve survival without morbidity.
Perspectives
As I researched studies for this review, I found the relatively large variation in survival for extremely preterm infants in recent studies from the US, UK and Sweden to be interestingly juxtaposed with the remarkably similar long-term neurodevelopmental outcomes (albeit with different definitions).
