What is it about?
Commitment and engagement drive some researchers to support more sustainable ways of producing. In the case of transition to agroecology, researchers are pulled between the field-level needs of farmers and the policy-level expectation of general knowledge. The two can be hard to combine. A group of researchers and other stakeholders met to discuss what problems they are facing.

Why is it important?
Taking time to step back and reflect on the reasons we do research is refreshing. It can improve the way research is designed and its relevance for everyone.
Perspectives
Shall research be militant? The answer is nuanced, but struggles need to be made explicit. A possible answer is acknowledging the opportunity to involve knowledge brokers in the role of translators between different actors.
